This is it. After what has felt like an eternity we are finally at the Opera House, in what is quite possibly the closest contest between not very good but very genuine Luke and the much more talented but very smarmy Wes.

The show opens with a very Rock Estedford? (it's Welsh don't ask me to spell it) group performance of Can You Feel It and the performance reminded me what a rubbish year it has been with only two truly great singers have been discovered and neither of them are the final two, but whatever.

Wes and Luke's final two duet is Times Like These by the Foo Fighters and it is quite good but I'm bias as Foo Fighters are my first love. They sound really good together maybe they could get together as a duo like Wham! That would be awesome.

Mark is back doing his mega bitchin' Sex Is On Fire which has me really REALLY hoping that the actual Kings Of Leon come out to do a really awesome duet. Holy crap that would be so effin' sweet.

The men of the final 12 do a group performance of Stevie Wonder classic Higher Ground and it really shows that the only use for Tom, Thanh, Teale, and Jonny is as back-up singers.

The ladies of the top 12 are doing I'm Every Woman, and the fact that Chrislyn isn't the winner is unbelievable but alas it was not to be. When they sing individually they are quite good but as a group they just sound like a group of pissed chicks who can sing alright doing karaoke.

Shane Nicholson and Casey Chambers are really great having never and I mean NEVER have been a fan of Casey Chambers often saying that she had the most annoying voice in all music but her husband Shane really tempers her whiny voice, plus I absolutely LOVE the style (I have never met a banjo I didn't like). It's great to see them getting this kind of attention. With Luke and Wes singing with them they should all just play in a band together because that was awesome and would be a million times better than what ether of them will do solo.

The second final 12 performance of Viva La Vida, I won't go into how overrated I think Coldplay are
but the performance was the best of the year with the aid of some strings and fireworks made for a kick arse performance.

Wes is reprising his best performance, Black Or White, he is wearing a silver leather jacket which I am seriously jealous of. With performances like this it is easy to see why Wes is in the top two.

Luke is reprising one of his more forgettable performances of Feelin' Alright, I am disappointed to see that he is not doing the Joe Cocker dance moves as seen here in one of John Belushi's finest and funniest impersonations:

With all that being said the performance was pretty good.

And Wes is the Idol. I hope after his sucky debut album he will have a Ryan Adams style like in his admittedly great auditions sans all the drugs and being a mega douche.

Good Luck to all the contestants hopefully some of them not in music.

I just had the most delicious dinner simple dinner of herb spaghetti:

Cook spaghetti

To make the sauce combine Garden Fresh brand oregano paste, basil paste, minced garlic (contrary to what there ads suggest you DON"T immediately start acting like a twat when using there products) and a table spoon of olive oil. Mix until combined, mix though spaghetti, chuck some Parmesan cheese over it and serve.

It's a piece of piss and absolutely beautiful.

Buon Appetito (that's Italian for Bon Appétit).

Today was a beautiful sunny day outside so naturally my sister and I decided it was the perfect day to go bowling. Today's excursion took us to near impossible to find Kingpin Bowling ally at the Crown Casino. We had the lanes to ourselves for most of our two games, which was good as we are the most dibarcular bowlers of all time. I still won which was sweet in an amazingly low scoring game which I won with a score of 42. The answer to the universe.

After saddest bowler ever battle we left for Smith Street Collingwood to go to the Converse Discount store were I go some really awesome shoes:

A pair of Green Fleece lined Keds, with get this LAMAS on them.

A pair of Silver larme High Tops a pair of shoes so me it's almost frightening.

And a pair of white Low Cut with green, pink and sliver glitter scattered on them. It's almost like someones following me and making me shoes.

Pictures of said shoes are coming soon.

This is going to be a promise to myself and anybody who is possibly reading this that I am going to try to post something everyday a month. As my year ten English teacher told us write what you know so most of these posts are going to be pop culture related and mostly music. With that spirit intended I would like to start with what is possibly the greatest music video ever. Enjoy.

Wasn't that brillant. I know the misunderstood alien with a chroma colour changing suit that reads its thoughts and moods is the oldest story in the world but has it ever been set to Nik Kershaw?

We are now down to the big three, and tomorrow nights show we will be hearing the winners song which for the first time is three individual songs written for the three guys which means that there will be two other crappy songs clogging up the air-ways for a week before we are most likely to never hear form them again.

This weeks theme is going back to were it all started with "Singers Choice" were we will hear sob stories of way the songs mean so much *sigh*.

The guest judge/mentor is Tina Arena and she is as irritating as I remember her being for the last time I was forced to see her on some inane chat show, maybe Sunrise. Also her hair in the mentoring clips has a very There's Something About Mary quality about it she is also in Joan Collins lighting which signifies to me that she must look really old.

Luke is up first and his review will go up as a result of singing the song used in the greatest scene in any movie ever, the Mr. Blond cutting the ear off the cop in Reservoir Dogs scene. The song is Steelers Wheel Stuck In The Middle With You. The intro starts and I get excited to see Luke groove down the stairs but as soon as he opens his mouth he has referred back to his first week on Idol with his Barnsey impression undoing all his good work which makes me sad. I don't wank Luke to win but I don't want him to suck either, I have grown to like Luke and I hope his second song is better....

Mark is up and doing Bad Day by Fuel both band and song I vaguely recall from the late 90's, not knowing the song it was like hearing an original and what I imagine a Mark Spano original to sound like. The song and vocal were pretty good, commercial enough for radio not too sucky that I would hate it but the real stand out was the performance were he was doing some mike stand caressing in a very tasteful way, not crass like, if anyone would remember the ill conceived JD Fortune who was said to have fucked the mike stand. Good job Mark hope to see you at the Opera House.

Wes is last and doing Easy Like Sunday Morning a song so boring that I couldn't remember it two minutes later. Now that I do remember the performance was actually pretty good, I tried to not like it because I have merits, 1. I hate the song so very much, 2. Wes is not my favorite person and 3. he went on a rant about how the song reminds him of being dumped but damn him if didn't bring out that damn harmonica. I could never hate a harmonica and Wes must know this. Well played Wes.

....I was right Luke's second song is much better he is doing Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues by everyone's favorite raving bitch queen Elton John. Now this is not the greatest Elton song but Luke does a really good job and for the first time has a real narrative, beginning, middle and end to his performance.

Mark is up again with a song I hate so much Smooth Santana/Rob Tomas. I cringe when the opening cords strike up and I prepare myself to be disappointed until we pan to Mark who has turned up the Crock-Pot-O-Sex up to 11 with his shirt all open and smoldering eyes he was so sexy that a woman in the crowed just couldn't contain herself and just had to reach up and goose him, it was awesome.

Wes is last with the Beatles Get Back the most iconic song attempted he opens with a very long guitar riff which I hated a deep seeded hatred for guitar solos born from the most self serving concert (Pete Murry) I have ever seen. The song gets stated and becomes really good he was very excited which made his vocal suffer but the energy was so high it was awesome.

It says a lot about this season when the highest rated show is the final three performance show A.

This weeks theme is in celebration of Barack Obama winning the presidency in what was not only a win for America and a race but a win for the whole fucking world! In honor of this historical event the AI have decided that the only fitting tribute would be to make the worlds broadest theme out of "Songs Of The US".

The guest judge/mentor is promised to be a "US Super Star", now given the caliber of this years previous "Super Stars" my expectations are very low. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that it is Chris Issac and while calling him a super star does seem to be a bit of a stretch I genuinely like him and am looking forward to him being just about the most charismatic person on the planet.

Since we are now down to the final four we will be treated to two performances.

First tonight his Wes who is doing When You Were Young by The Killers Chris Issac (CI) has already made me happy by telling Wes to actually sing well instead of relying on his kick arse performances to carry him. CI tells Wes that no-one wants to hear just big notes and that people in the business cover bad singing with a million back-up singers and a sting section. As soon as Wes comes on stage their are a million back-up singers and a string section which says it all. He also does this absolutely revolting thing with a girl in the crowd which includes "acting".

Filthy Teale is up doing the perfect song for him as you have to be a complete douche bag to sing John Mayer. With Mayer's first hit No Such Thing FT is just so unbelievably beige it makes my brain hurt that he is still in this contest when he can't even pull off a "sing it" with any conviction.

Mark is next and doing a very brave thing by singing a Chis Issac song doing Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing. Mark is a great big crock-pot-o-sex. Singing all sexy a raspy, sidling up to the female back-up singers giving the best performance of the night.

Ugh why Luke why I know you just had a kid and want to show him that while you were away you were thinking of him but Creed is NOT the way to do this. With Arms Wide Open is one of the worst songs EVER written. The emotion and sentiment of the performance is very sweet but the song is just so excruciating that there was no way I could have enjoyed this but with the story he has absolutely cemented his place in the top three.

Wes is back for round two and is doing What A Wonderful World a song that takes us all back to our childhoods when we used to cram the entire year into a boiling hot demountable with scratchy carpet on a Tuesday afternoon and sing. With his acoustic guitar perched on the side of the stage he has a very Kermit The Frog feel which I found endearing. Good job Wes.

Filthy Teale is back and doing What Goes Around Comes Around by my guilty pleasure JT. Right off the bat not my favorite JT song but FT does sound quite a bit like JT but is lacking in the confidence and charisma and ultimately just looks uncomfortable.

Mark is up again with Everybody Hurts and I'm going to try not to cry as is everyone else watching because this is a song that gets to absolutely everyone. He really makes an emotional connection with the audience and also cements his place in the top three.

Last it is Luke again and again preforming a song from a band I can not stand The Eagles the song One Of These Nights. I thought that there could not have been a worse song choice possible until he started singing the song, I hate admit it but I got a perverse guilty pleasure out of this performance and for that I have got to give props to the man.

It is getting to the pointy end and there a two good and one very good contender to be crowned AI and if this week is anything to go by it will be a though race B.

First off, is it just me or is it a bit cruel to have Michael Jackson week so close to Halloween?

What my shape up to be a very "interesting" week, the theme is Michael Jackson. This immediately has me scratching the old noodle, Michael Jackson is one of the best and most iconic singers. As we all know MJ has a VERY distinctive musical style with will prove to be a challenge for the top five to see if they make the songs their own or if they just do a MJ impression.

In one of the saddest things I have ever seen, the good people at Australian Idol are trying to make a big deal out of this weeks guest judge Jermaine Jackson(he has kids named Jermajesty and Jaffar (that's the name of the bad guy from Aladdin) , possibly the saddest of the Jackson's but that could be said about all of the Jackson's including Michael. He is dressed like MC Hammer looks like he is made of plastic and he is speaking with that ultra creepy soft voice that all the Jackson's speak with. *Shudders*

First up is Filthy Teale who is pulling a Sophie but doing too many slow songs. He is doing a slowed down version of Billie Jean, which I would like to point out is not a new idea as (in a reference especially for my sister) national treasure Neil Finn has done the slow thing. And yes I know Neil Finn is from New Zealand but he has had success and has been to Australia and in the great Australian tradition making him ours. This was probably FT's finest vocal performance but the arrangement was completely confusing.

Mark is next and doing Bad. I'm disappointed with Mark he sounds like he is doing a MJ impression which is making his usually strong voice sound very thin, by the chorus he is singing like himself and doing a good job until he gets to the verse and slips back into the impression.

Chrislyn has put herself on the chopping block with Thriller, a brilliant song yes and her singing was great to but Thriller is to steeped in its video and needs to have zombies and the dance moves and Vincent Price's voice over and most importantly Thriller needs to have the 14 minute running time.

Luke is doing The Way You Make Me Feel and I'm so glad he has made the call to rearrange the song to his talents with a more bluesy version which really suited his voice and in resent weeks has been singing with much less screeching and his really coming into his own as a performer.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this weeks standout is Wes who is doing Black Or White. He looks much better this week with his hair tied back and I didn't mind seeing the hat back. I'm still not mad about his voice but his performance is so off the chain with the dancing. Most Entertaining performance of the night, quite possibly the year.

This has been the best show of the season. It may not have gotten as good of a rating if it weren't for the rather lackluster season B+.

I was worried when I herd this weeks theme was going to be The Rolling Stones as these people are young and ignorant, if you are one of those ignorant young people The Rolling Stones are a seminal rock band who made and continue to make some of histories greatest rock songs. They also look like Muppet's that are made of leather.

First cab off the rank is Wes, minus the stupid hat but wearing a very ill fitting brown leather jacket and a bandanna tied around he's neck making him look like a 1950's school girl who is hiding a hickey. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in his song choice of Jumping Jack Flash, for a cool rock dude who knows all about music this choice seems a bit obvious. His performance was quite good. He used the stage well and his Mick Jagger style dance moves were entertaining but in giving a good physical performance his voice suffered and the final product was a bit irritating.

Roshani is next and to dust off an old chestnut "I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed" (now anyone who has been at the receiving end of this comment knows that this hurts way more than someone being mad at you.). She did Wild Horses possibly my favorite Stones song so it really pissed me off when Marsha said she didn't know this song and REALLY pissed me off when Kyle blamed the song and not her terrible singing. She just sucked all of the life and emotion out of this song, there were far too many vocal acrobatics for a song that is sung so straight forward. Contrary to what the judges said I think a lot of people know and love Wild Horses and it is a song that I think means a lot to a lot of people and her making it into a dogs breakfast was what got her eliminated. I had a lot of faith in Roshani and I'm too disappointed in her to be angry about her ruining on of my favorite songs. This was a real shame. *Shakes head in disappointment*

Luke's up and he's doing Honky Tonk Woman. I've grown to like Luke as a man but unfortunately not as a singer. I thought Honky Tonk Woman would have been a good choice to go with his slightly hillbilly nature. The opening is promising as my dad would say "The band is smoking". The good thing about this performance is that it clenched my "Fever for more cowbell", the bad thing about this performance is that it made me remember why I was so anti-Luke in the first place, but absolutely not his worst week.

Filthy Teale has gone too far this week. First he says how much he loves The Rolling Stones and then goes and picks You Can't Always Get What You Want like it's the ONLY Stones song he knows. Second you CAN NOT cut down 7:30 minute epic about how shitty life can be into a 1:44 minute piss weak acoustic wuss rock telling the audience to "sing it". FT needs to piss off.

Chrislyn is doing the perfect song for her. The rocking Get Off Of My Cloud, this is the prefect mix of rock and blues and she is strutting around like she is Mick Jagger. This was one of her best performances yet. You go girl, sista girlfriend moon!

Last is Mark going my least favorite Stones song Angie. Mark has annoyed me i saying that he is a bigger Beatles fan than he is a Rolling Stones fan like it's some kind of East Coast, West Coast rap battle between fans when everyone I know is an equal and huge fan of both. My annoyance at this comment aside Mark delivers the best performance of the night with a striped back acoustic, highly emotional performance with a sob story to boot.

The performances this week were that the ones who were good were really good, the ones who were shit were really shit and the rest were mediocre, so this grade evens out to a C.

See you next week for what should be at least an interesting show for Michael Jackson week.

If I had a band it would be called Monkey Blue Balls (a Vervet Monkey easily detected by its bright blue balls), the album would be called Moobs (a mash of man and boobs, hence moobs) the anal bum cover (the album cover Hee!) would be a picture of moobs, the single would be Dangling Fury (just think about it) and my record company would be, in keeping with the animal kingdom colour spectrum Baboon Arse Red Records. But I will do this meme as I have nothing better to do:

1 - Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Random quotations: http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
If you want to do this again, you'll hit refresh to generate new quotes, because clicking the quotes link again will just give you the same quotes over and over again.

3 - Go to flickr's "explore the last seven days" http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

My Band name is: Calcutta National Medical College (pretty cool, sounds like an indy bands name)

Our first album will be called: "the risk of failure." Anonymous, often attributed to Dan Quayle. (Ewww it sounds like a EMO thing and Dan Quayle super EEWWWW!!!!!

Our album cover will be: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alebbon/2950331913/ (it goes with the EMO title.)

It will be interesting at least to see what these young whippersnappers interpret Motown to be. You know Motown, those absolutely bloody brilliant songs from the sixties that came out of if Sufjan Stevens and 8 Mile is to believed the unhappiest place on Earth (and no it is not my grandmothers house) Detroit.

This weeks mentor is none other than the first and second best Idol Guy Sebastian, I like Guy very much and it's nice and familiar to see him again.

Mark is back. After a couple of dodgy weeks he proves what a great singer he really is with The Supremes Keep Me Hanging On, this was blowing like 7 kinds of awesome. Song-check, Musicians-check, awesome Motown style dance steps: priceless.

The ARIAS are on next and I have such a crush on Hamish Blake.

Sophie is up....Awww come on Pappa Was A Rolling Stone, really? Anyways She's doing the most utterly irritating breathy singing, and shes dressed all wrong, it's a cute dress but to short and it clearly shows that she knows nothing. How is she still here?

New daddy Luke (isn't that just the sweetest) he is doing My Girl and says a bunch of super sweet stuff about his wife witch shows that he is a lovely guy but I can't help but cringe at how he is going to butcher this....WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? He does a beautiful job and shows off a real sweetness in his voice and performance. Perhaps having a kid is the best thing he could of done.

Oh my god that Supernatural ad is hysterical.

Eww Rikki-Lee seems to think it is OK to make puns out of song tittles like Reach Out and Get Ready. Puns are a privilege not a right missy so you can cut that right out.

Speaking of Get Ready Chrislyn HOLY CRAP! Hands down best performance of the yeah if not in Idol history. If she doesn't win it will be the greatest injustice ever. Stuff like genocide not withstanding.

Filthy Teale makes me want to throw up with an incredibility weak version Ain't No Mountain High Enough which everyone knows needs to be sung with a strong voice. He starts up in the crowed next to his very pretty girlfriend with braces which is kind of cute but coming from FT it just oozes yickyness.

SH is doing the lovely If I Were A Carpenter. He needs to shove that guitar up his arse to excise the demons of Bono.

Roshani has done a real disservice to herself by doing Reflections by The Supremes Which is a crap song when done by The Supremes. Song choice aside she did quite well, not her best week but better than still better than ST, FT and Sophie put together.

This has been the best week so far B-.
